Baptisia Mix
We gathered seeds from all of our various Baptisia bushes to offer up in a mix! Seeds were collected from all of the different varieties we grow, with colours ranging from lemon yellow to yellow with dusty pink to chocolate and even a few purplish blue! The bees will have worked their magic as well...sow and be surprised! These plants will, after a few years and some patience, become small shrubs that die back to the ground each year. Offering not only beautiful flower spikes, Baptisia also provides the most gorgeous foliage that some say looks similar to eucalyptus! Mature pods dry wonderfully. Foliage can even be dried for a curly, earthy addition to everlasting floral work.
Approximately 25 seeds/pkt.
Please note: this seed requires cold stratification to ensure successful germination. The easiest way to do this is to sow in very late fall and allow nature to do the rest! Alternatively, you can surface sow (seed needs light to germinate) 8-10 weeks before your last frost date by placing your seed onto moist soil and gently pressing in. Cover with a humidity dome and place in fridge for a min of 5 weeks to achieve stratification. Remove and bring in to warmth for germination and growth. Transplant out once acclimatized and hardened off after last frost. Soaking seed overnight before beginning the cold stratification enhances germination even more.
