Hoary (Purple) Vervain

Hoary (Purple) Vervain

C$4.95Price

Hoary Vervain (verbena stricta) is a native perennial that draws in pollinators with its intriguing purple flowers.  It is perfect for a wildlife or butterfly garden!  The long seed pods are very interesting and offer a welcomed food source to over wintering birds.  Plants grow tall (3-4') and require staking and enjoy a sunny, well draining spot.

(unfortunately our picture isn't very clear - a google search will help you to see this beautiful flower better!)

Approximately 75 seeds/pkt.

Please note: seed requires cold stratification to ensure successful germination.  The easiest way to do this is to sow in very late fall and allow nature to do the rest!  Alternatively, you can surface sow (seed needs light to germinate) 10-15 weeks before your last frost date by placing your seed onto moist soil and gently pressing in.  Cover with a humidity dome and place in fridge for 8-12 weeks to achieve stratification.  Remove and bring in to warmth for germination and growth.  Transplant out once acclimatized and hardened off, after last frost.
