White Honeyweed/Siberian Motherwort
Looking for something unique and different? Try this white honeyweed! It is hardy down to zone 6 and so can be a perennial for those of you in warmer zones, but it can also be grown as an annual as well in colder zones - our first year seedlings, grown from seed, bloomed in year one. This interesting plant (Leonurus sibiricus 'alba') produces tall, arching flower spikes with white whorls that open up progressively from bottom to top (similar to the way beebalms do). This selection adds some height (grows about 4-6' high) and interest to the garden! Prefers sun and well draining soil. Seed heads also add textural interest.
Approximately 100 seeds/pkt.
Please note: this seed requires cold stratification to ensure successful germination. The easiest way to do this is to sow in very late fall and allow nature to do the rest! Alternatively, you can surface sow (seed needs light to germinate) 8-12 weeks before your last frost date by placing your seed onto moist soil and gently pressing in. Cover with a humidity dome and place in fridge for 4-8 weeks to achieve stratification. Remove and bring in to warmth for germination and growth. Transplant out once acclimatized and hardened off after last frost.
